Per Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, LaVine said:

It’s nice to hear LaVine be so confident but what does that really mean? Does it mean he’s ready to let Lauri Markkanen be the number one option? Or does it mean that he thinks – or knows – that he can be the number one option?
