Time is a finite resource. This truth is one of the great sources of existential dread all the world round.
If you ever wanted to escape that reality, at least in years past, you could lean on the NBA pre-season. Between training camp, pretend-games and the plethora of practice available in October, the pre-season made life feel long; interminable, even.
As the conversation about the importance of player rest has increased over the last decade, the pre-season has always seemed like a logical target to cut, buying some padding time in the regular season. Finally, the league pulled the trigger on such a move in time for this season, starting the regular season a week earlier than years past, taking that chunk directly from the pre-season.
