Jonathan Abrams graduated high school in 2001, the same year Michael Jordan drafted Kwame Brown with the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft. The same year Bulls general manager Jerry Krause traded Elton Brand for the rights to Tyson Chandler and drafted Thornwood High graduate Eddy Curry. More than a decade later, he started researching and writing “Boys Among Men: How the Prep-to-Pro Generation Redefined the NBA and Sparked a Basketball.”
I read it last week and I can confirm it’s a great book for basketball fans, full of familiar moments for those of us who lived through the early days of the preps-to-pro era.
