The Cubs began their 2017 postseason facing quite the gauntlet of opposing starters, with the rock-solid Gio Gonzalez sandwiched between a pair of Cy Young contenders in Stephen Strasburg and Max Scherzer.
But the dominance had to run out at some point. That point is in Game 4 with Tanner Roark scheduled to take the bump in an elimination game.
That's not to say Roark isn't a good pitcher. He had to scratch and claw for years to earn a rotation spot, which he finally secured in full last year. With the exception of a wobbly June this year, he hasn't done anything to surrender that position since.
