A much-anticipated Monday night matchup between Russell Westbrook and Jimmy Butler just got an unexpected plot twist. Butler missed the Bulls' morning shootaround due to illness, which could mean he sits out against the Oklahoma City Thunder — or it could set up a "flu game" of his own against the highest-profile competition possible.
"He's home, not feeling well," Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said after shootaround Monday morning. "Hopefully he gets better as the day goes on, but it will go right up to a gametime decision whether he plays or not."
Hoiberg said Doug McDermott will start at small forward if Butler can't play.
