LOS ANGELES – Where was Devenski?
That question, or some variation of it, was on the minds of a number of Los Angeles Dodgers coaches and staffers on Monday on the eve of the World Series.
Why didn’t Chris Devenski pitch for the Houston Astros in the final three games of the American League Championship Series? Is he hurt? Or did the Astros lose trust in him?
Let’s just say Lance McCullers’ brilliant four-inning save to close out the ALCS stemmed, in part, from manager A.J. Hinch’s lack of faith in his other relief options—Devenski, Will Harris, Ken Giles, et al.
