The Penguins' offseason was mostly a tale of who left. Quite a few pieces of the team's last two Stanley Cup championships departed.
Not a lot was made of the Penguins' relatively pedestrian additions of Ryan Reaves, Greg McKegg, Antti Niemi and Matt Hunwick.
In fact, one could suggest the Penguins' biggest offseason addition was Kris Letang.
“It's funny you say it that way but it's actually true,” said Olli Maatta.
Considering the Penguins played the last four months of last season (regular and postseason) without their all-star, all-everything defenseman, the fact they were able to repeat as Stanley Cup champions defied logic.
