Going into Sunday’s Game 4, Isaiah Canaan had played a total of 20 minutes for the Bulls since the All-Star break, almost entirely in garbage time. He almost doubled that in the Bulls’ loss to the Boston Celtics Sunday, playing 34 minutes off the bench when Jerian Grant and Michael Carter-Williams proved untenable replacements for Rajon Rondo at point guard and Fred Hoiberg had nowhere else to turn.
Canaan wasn’t spectacular, but he was at least serviceable, and with Rondo still out, he will get the start at point guard when the Bulls’ first-round series goes back to Boston for Game 5 on Wednesday.
