How the Huskies made history

The Connecticut Huskies brought home the hardware for the fourth consecutive season with an 82-51 win over the Syracuse Orange on Tuesday night. Breanna Stewart and her fellow 2012 recruiting classmates – Moriah Jefferson and Morgan Tuck (redshirt junior) – became the first players in Division I basketball history, men’s or women’s, to win four NCAA championships. Freshmen were granted eligibility in the 1972-73 season, the end of UCLA’s streak of seven straight titles.

Geno Auriemma passed John Wooden for the most national championships by any head coach in Division I basketball history (all divisions, men's and women's).
