On Wednesday afternoon, in the aftermath of the Derrick Rose trade, Bulls general manager Gar Forman said the team was looking to get younger and more athletic.
Last year’s disastrous season showed how far the Bulls have to go to rebuild an aging core that missed its peak because of Rose’s unfortunate knee injuries. Now the new Bulls, without Rose, Joakim Noah and Pau Gasol, have to evolve into Fred Hoiberg’s “Hoiball” Iowa barnstormers.
So they picked up 23-year-old combo guard Jerian Grant and 28-year-old center Robin Lopez in the Rose deal, along with 34-year-old guard Jose Calderon, which I believe is Spanish for Kirk Hinrich.
