Things are going well for the Eagles headed into Sunday’s matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Perhaps too well?
A jump was expected from Carson Wentz in his second year, and he has made a massive one. Wentz leads the NFL in touchdown passes by two and perhaps made himself the MVP frontrunner after flustering a division rival time and again with numerous highlight-reel plays on Monday Night Football.
Again, this isn’t a fluke. The Birds rank fourth in DVOA and have a plus-53 point differential, good for third-best in the NFL. And with a couple of games at The Linc against struggling teams over the next few weeks, the Eagles have a golden opportunity to pad that point differential and head into their bye week in tremendous shape at 8-1.
