NEWARK, N.J. — Other than the guy wearing a blue No. 12 sweater in Toronto, there may not be a former Sharks player as intriguing this season as defenseman Mirco Mueller, now a member of the New Jersey Devils.
The 22-year-old was drafted 18th overall by the Sharks in 2013 but never was able to crack the NHL lineup on a full-time basis. He skated in 39 games for the Sharks in 2014-15, the only season the franchise missed the playoffs in the past 13, but managed to play in just 15 NHL games over the next two seasons combined.
