Chicago Bulls: What Fred Hoiberg firing means for the tank

On Monday, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that the Chicago Bulls fired head coach Fred Hoiberg, and that associate head coach Jim Boylen will take over as head coach. Hoiberg is being ousted in the midst of his fourth season with the Bulls, in which the team has started off the season 5-19, losing their last six. The only question that remains is how does this effect the Bulls tank?

As far as tanking goes, firing Hoiberg is an interesting decision. Within a rebuilding organization, it’s not often the coach going into the rebuild makes it out of the rebuild, but it really did feel like the Bulls were going to stick with Hoiberg long term.
