On Tuesday, October 25, the Chicago Bulls hosted a community basketball tournament at the Advocate Center, in partnership with the NBA, the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), Youth Guidance’s Becoming a Man® (BAM) Program and the Chicago Police Department. BAM students and police officers played side-by-side for a championship and participated in BAM’s signature conversation circles to discuss creating a culture of safety and peace in the community. Bulls President and COO Michael Reinsdorf, Chicago Bulls Charities President Nancy Reinsdorf and Chicago Bulls Charities Vice President Leslie Forman joined Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson, NBA Hall of Famer and Ambassador Bob Lanier, and Bulls players, coaches and ambassadors in participating in the circles to help foster an engaged and open conversation between the city’s youth and police, and stuck around to take in some of the on-court action.
