Frontcourt depth is an issue which has plagued the Chicago Bulls for the past few seasons, as they struggled to find a balance between developing talent and maintaining veteran leadership. The Bulls ended the 2018-19 season with just four frontcourt (Center + Small Forward) players, after their midseason trade of Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker.
They then lost Robin Lopez to free agency, as he departed for Milwaukee to play alongside his twin brother Brook. This left the Bulls with just three ‘big men’, in Wendell Carter Jr, Lauri Markkanen and Cristiano Felicio.
