When you haven’t been to the NCAA tournament in, well, ever, it’s not unlikely that you’ll break some records here and there.
That’s what Northwestern continued to do in a 73-61 win over Nebraska on Thursday night at Welsh-Ryan Arena, improving to 17-4 on the year and 6-2 with their fifth straight win in the Big Ten. It is their best conference winning streak since the 1965-66 season. That’s so long ago Evan Eschmeyer was only a redshirt freshman.
After a big road win at Ohio State, the old Northwestern would’ve lost this game. But the new Nourthwestern showed why it’s likely going to the tournament for the first time, that’s right, ever.
