The writing was on the wall for guard Antonio Blakeney long before Monday’s news that he was waived, or even going back to July when guard Shaquille Harrison was let go, cleared waivers, and then brought back to the Bulls roster.
And that message came in the form of playing time.
Or in the case of the shoot-first, ask-questions-later Blakeney, the dwindling playing time under coach Jim Boylen.
Yes, the Bulls made the move official on Monday, waiving Blakeney, despite $1.58 million guaranteed for this upcoming season, but it was more about fit and playing time, and Blakeney no longer checked either of those boxes.
