The MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference wrapped up last week. Sloan is a great opportunity for some of the greatest minds throughout sports to meet, and the Bulls were a topic of discussion in many of the panels. Some of the interesting highlights from the conference:
Hinrich a better teammate than Rose?
Joseph Kuehn, an assistant professor of economics at CSU East Bay, found data to suggest that teammates benefit more from playing alongside Kirk Hinrich than Derrick Rose.
In his paper “Accounting for Complementary Skill Sets When Evaluating NBA Players’ Values to a Specific Team,” Kuehn tracked the expected increase in teammates’ points per possession under both Rose and Hinrich.
