For the third time in the last four tournaments, Spain captured gold in the European basketball championship, and Pau Gasol was named MVP of the competition.
Gasol registered 25 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and three blocked shots in Spain's 80-63 win over Lithuania on Sunday.
He also led the tournament in scoring for the third time in his career with an average of 25.6 points per game and 8.8 rebounds in nine games while shooting 57.5 percent from the field.
"It's of special significance to play this well at this stage of my career after all I've accomplished," the 35-year-old Bulls power forward said after the game.
