Bulls announce that Lauri Markkanen will miss 2-4 weeks

Bulls coach Billy Donovan was hoping that the Lauri Markkanen right shoulder sprain wasn’t as serious as it looked midway into the Friday Orlando loss.

As the organization has found out in Markkanen’s fourth season, however, injury news seldom goes well for the 7-footer.

The team announced that Markkanen’s MRI confirmed that he had sprained the right acromioclavicular joint, and was expected to miss two-to-four weeks.

Markkanen already missed games this season because of contract tracing, but has had a three-year bumpy road of injuries.

Since being acquired in the 2017 Jimmy Butler rebuild trade, Markkanen’s most successful season from an availability standpoint was his rookie season, when he played 68 of the 82 games.
