The Bulls have a core of their future in Lauri Markkanen, but after the incident between Bobby Portis and Nikola Mirotic the team was forced to pick between the two moving forward.
The Bulls opted to trade the red-hot Mirotic to the Pelicans on Feb. 1, opening a door for Portis for more playing time while continuing to develop Markkanen.
