After unheralded arrivals, Michigan players puzzled by basketball scandals

NEW YORK CITY — In a room occupied by many of the best players in the Big Ten, the three chairs at Michigan's table were filled by Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman, Duncan Robinson and Moritz Wagner.

Between the three of them, they didn't add up to five stars.

“Very fitting,” Robinson said.

College basketball is in a strange spot right now. The 2017-18 season is rapidly approaching and, across the nation, those most invested — coaches, players, media, fans — are marching through some heavy reality on their way to the court. It's hard to be excited when the storm is building instead of breaking.
