The season is over the Chicago Bulls, and they've turned their attention toward the offseason. The Bulls missed the playoffs last year, but have designs on making it back. The Bulls have some cap space and will be able to go after a few free agents this offseason, if they so choose.
While Chicago would love to land Kevin Durant, he's not a realistic target at this point. We're ignoring the Bulls' own free agents and instead focusing on other team's players. With that in mind, here are 4 realistic free agent targets for the Bulls this offseason.
4. Ian Mahinmi
Mahinmi doesn't get a ton of love, but he's a solid player. He might get a bigger contract than many expect this offseason, and it could come from the Bulls. He posted 9.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game and would fill a need for Chicago. The Bulls need to add a big with Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah likely gone.
3. D.J. Augustin
Augustin was a nice player in his brief time with the Pacers, so perhaps the Bulls would like to bring him back. The Bulls need point guard help, even if Derrick Rose stays. They could, and will likely, target one in the NBA draft this year, but picking up a veteran like Augustin makes sense. For more Bulls coverage, download the Chat Sports App!
2. Evan Turner
The Bulls need help at small forward. Mike Dunleavy is on his last legs and Doug McDermott has flaws. There are the obvious limitations with Turner, like his 3-point shooting, but can be an effective player. Pairing McDermott and Turner at SF in a platoon of sorts could actually work well.
1. Bismack Biyombo
Biyombo is going to get paid this offseason, as he showed real ability during the Raptors' playoff run. He's said he's willing to take a discount to stay in Toronto, but the Bulls will likely make a run at him. They can afford him, and he'd become the rim protector they lack without Noah. It's pushing the "realistic" part, but there's at least a chance for this to happen.
