CHICAGO – Jonathan Toews may not be able to relate to his Chicago Blackhawks’ teammates who have been healthy scratches in the Stanley Cup playoffs, but he can commiserate.
Toews has seen how difficult having to sit out the season’s biggest games can be on his teammates. That’s not easy for anyone. Nor is it easy to be brought back into the lineup and asked to immediately contribute in such monumental games.
When players like Antoine Vermette, Kris Versteeg, Viktor Stalberg among others in the past have bounced back from healthy scratches and found ways to contribute in the playoffs, Toews has come to understand the significance of that.
