Dougie Hamilton can be an oddly divisive player. Selected ninth overall in 2011 by the Boston Bruins, Hamilton was a difference maker during his junior career and was named the CHL's top defenseman in 2011-12. He made his NHL debut as a 20 year old during the lockout-shortened season for the Bruins, scoring 16 points in 42 games. He has incrementally increased his scoring each and every season since then, breaking the 50 point barrier for the Flames last year at just 23.
Despite these impressive results and his 6-foot-6 frame, Hamilton has his share of detractors. Some fans will note that Hamilton isn't overly physical given his size and is prone to defensive zone errors.
