The Blackhawks may be searching for more than a top-line left winger at the trade deadline. They’re also inquiring about a veteran defenseman, according to a league source.
“They’re looking for a forward and veteran defenseman,” the source said. “They need help back there.”
The Blackhawks had hoped to solidify their defensive group by adding Brian Campbell, Michal Kempny and Gustav Forsling this season, but that hasn’t worked out as planned. Campbell was made a healthy scratch for the first time since his last go-around with the Blackhawks. Kempny has been in and out of the lineup.
