Alex Cora, perhaps the hottest name on the managerial market, has interviewed with the Detroit Tigers, sources told The Athletic. Cora, who also has interviewed with the Mets and Red Sox, met with the Tigers last week about the opening.
The 41-year-old Cora, currently the Houston Astros bench coach, is regarded as the front-runner for the Red Sox job, according to The Athletic‘s Ken Rosenthal. Former Tigers manager Brad Ausmus is also reportedly among the shortlist of names competing for the Red Sox job, widely viewed as the best of four managerial openings because of Boston's status as a contender.
