Sheldon Brookbank knows what it takes to make it from the AHL to the NHL.
Brookbank clawed his way to the NHL as a defenseman after many seasons in the minors. All together, he played in 351 AHL games in his career. But they were all worth it because he played in 367 career NHL games and won a Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks.
Now, Brookbank will look to help to other AHL players develop and achieve their own NHL dreams. Brookbank, 36, will rejoin the Blackhawks as an assistant coach with the Rockford IceHogs, their AHL affiliate.
