Wednesday morning The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun reported that in the NHL's proposed collective bargaining agreement a return to the Olympics is on the table.
"If the NHL/NHLPA finalize things, if the players ratify it, and subject to negotiation with IOC, sounds like proposed CBA extension includes the NHL’s return to Olympic participation covering both 2022 and 2026," LeBrun tweeted.
In other words, if the players approve the proposal — along with the International Olympic Committee's blessing — we could see NHL players back in the Olympics for 2022 and 2026.
NHL players last participated in the 2014 Olympic games in Sochi, Russia.
