Report: Blackhawks place David Rundblad on waivers

The Blackhawks have placed defenseman David Rundblad on waivers, according to James Mirtle of The Globe and Mail.

Rundblad, 25, has appeared in just nine games this season with the Blackhawks, where he's registered two assists and a minus-2 rating.

A former first round pick in 2009 by the St. Louis Blues, Rundblad figured to battle for an every day roster spot this season but he has struggled to find consistency on the bottom defensive pairing.

If Rundblad clears waivers and is sent to the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, it would open up $950,000 in cap space, according to capfriendly.
