The Chicago Blackhawks practice facility and community hockey rink set for the site of Malcolm X College received approval from the Plan Commission on Thursday, reports Chicago Tribune's John Byrne.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel's administration has said it will cost the city about $8 million to tear down the Malcolm X building, which is being replaced by a new campus nearby. The Hawks and Rush will pay about $24 million for their part of the land, for a $16 million net to the city.
The administration has said the land was appraised at $26.
