Patrick Kane wasn’t ready for a 100-point season in the past.
The Blackhawks forward has always possessed offensive ability, but his game still needed some refinement. He had to learn how to use some of his skills differently, develop others and continually work on them before he could have a season like this one, where he had 46 goals, 60 assists and 106 points.
Kane is the first-ever American-born player to lead the NHL in scoring. He’s the first Blackhawks player to do it since Stan Mikita in the 1967-68 season.
“I think what it is, it’s a culmination of many years put together,” said one NHL scout who has followed Kane’s entire career.
