NHL trade deadline: Blackhawks make minor-league trade with Ducks

The Blackhawks made a minor-league deal with the Anaheim Ducks just before the trade deadline, acquiring forward Kenton Helgesen and a seventh-round draft pick in 2019 in exchange for forwards Spencer Abbott and Sam Carrick.

Helgesen's deal carries a $626,667 cap hit, and will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

It's the only move the Blackhawks made Wednesday, after they traded for defenseman Johnny Oduya late Tuesday night and bottom-six forward Tomas Jurco over the weekend.

Helgesen, 22, has three goals and 10 assists in 38 games with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL, and has accumulated 18 points in 69 career games across his two seasons there.
