Willie O’Ree, the NHL’s first black player, was named one of six hockey figures named to the 2018 Hockey Hall of Fame class Tuesday. O’Ree broke the league’s color barrier in 1958 by playing for the Bruins.
Martin Brodeur, Martin St. Louis, Jayna Hefford, Alexander Yakushev and current NHL commissioner Gary Bettman will also be enshrined in November.
