The Blackhawks added a third assistant coach on Tuesday afternoon. They hired veteran Marc Crawford. He won a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche in 1996, holds a 556-431-182 all-time NHL coaching record and most recently was interim head coach for the Ottawa Senators during the 2018-19 season.
Elsewhere in Chicago sports, the Cubs clobbered the ball in the summer heat at Wrigley Field in a 6-3 win over the Colorado Rockies. The White Sox dropped the opener of a two-game series 9-5 against the Nationals in Washington, D.C.
