With the Colorado Rockies now eliminated from the 2017 MLB postseason, bench coach Mike Redmond is slated to interview with the Tigers for their managerial opening at some point next week, The Athletic has learned.
The 46-year-old Redmond, whose Rockies lost 11-8 to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL Wild Card game on Wednesday, is among the shortlist of candidates the Tigers have identified as they conduct their first round of interviews.
Redmond, who played 13 years in the majors, is regarded as a manager who has strong relationships with his players and who has a good sense of humor, among other attributes.
