Michigan football midseason grades: Defense shines as offense struggles

We’re halfway through the college football season, and — surprise, surprise — things have not gone as expected.

After coming into the year with an uncertain outlook, Michigan opened with a huge win over Florida that raised expectations considerably. Since then, though, the Wolverines have struggled mightily on offense — the side of the ball on which they actually returned four starters. The defense, meanwhile, has hardly missed a beat after sending nearly all of last season’s starters to the NFL.

Let’s take a look at where each position group stands at the midway point.

Quarterbacks: C-
