Mark McNeill is a veteran when it comes to the Chicago Blackhawks’ training camp.
This year marks McNeill’s fifth camp. It would have been No. 6 if there hadn’t been an NHL lockout to begin the 2012-13 season.
All of McNeill’s previous camps concluded with him being sent elsewhere. McNeill, a Blackhawks’ 2011 first-round pick, returned to his Canadian junior team in 2011, then was assigned to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL the past three years.
McNeill’s goal is for this camp to be different. He wants to still be a member of the Blackhawks when the final cuts are made for the 2016-17 season-opening roster.
