Here’s a breakdown of the Chicago Blackhawks’ 3-2 overtime road win over the New Jersey Devils on Friday.
Game-changing plays
1. The Blackhawks were in full-out desperation mode once again. Trailing in the final minutes on Friday, the Blackhawks again pulled their goalie and again found a way to score. The Blackhawks were given a four-minute power play with 5:32 remaining thanks to a double-minor by the Devils’ Vernon Fiddler. After failing to score after the first two minutes, the Blackhawks pulled goalie Corey Crawford to give them an extra attacker. The risk paid off when Jonathan Toews carried the puck from the right side to the net, fed Marian Hossa and Hossa knocked the puck in to even the game at 2-2 with 2:11 left.
