Jordan Schroeder, who was a pending unrestricted free agent, signed a one-year contract with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the KHL on Friday after one season with the Blackhawks’ AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.
Schroeder led the IceHogs in goals (19), assists (26) and points (45) in 62 regular-season games. Despite his production, the 28-year-old did not receive a call up. Chicago acquired him last July from the Blue Jackets in exchange for goaltender Jean-Francois Berube.
Prior to this past season, Schroeder played in at least 21 games in every season since 2013, suiting up for the Canucks, Wild and Blue Jackets in that span.
