Antoine Vermette, who won the Stanley Cup in 2015 with the Blackhawks, announced his retirement from the NHL on Thursday after 14 seasons.
Chicago acquired Vermette in exchange for defenseman Klas Dahlbeck and a 2015 first-round draft pick (Nick Merkley) from the Coyotes on Feb. 28, 2015. Vermette, a pending unrestricted free agent, tallied only three assists the rest of the regular season.
After being a healthy scratch for the first two playoff games, the center shined by scoring four goals with three assists and winning 58.
