Former Chicago Blackhawks and Rockford IceHogs defenseman Cody Franson is likely to sign with the KHL’s Avangard Omsk, reports Igor Eronko of Sport-Express.
Avangard is coached by Bob Hartley, who won the Stanley Cup in 2001 with the Colorado Avalanche and was most recently the head coach for the Latvian national team after being fired by the Calgary Flames.
Franson, 31, attended Chicago’s training camp last fall on a professional tryout contract and was signed to a one-year deal on the opening day of the regular season.
