Ulf Samuelsson wants to stay in coaching. The 51-year-old who was fired as a Blackhawks assistant coach Tuesday, told Swedish media outlet Expressen that he wants to coach in Sweden or Switzerland.

Samuelsson did not say a specific team he’s eyeing, but did mention his former team Modo in the SHL.

The Blackhawks hired Samuelsson in 2017 after he spent one season with the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL. After a 6-6-3 start, Chicago fired Samuelsson, assistant Kevin Dineen and head coach Joel Quenneville. All three coaches played together in the 1980s for the Hartford Whalers in the NHL.
