Kris Versteeg, who won two Stanley Cup championships with the Blackhawks, joined the Växjö Lakers in the Swedish Hockey League on Thursday.
Versteeg lasted played for Avangard Omsk in the KHL, where he scored three goals with two assists in 11 games. The winger last played in the NHL with the Calgary Flames, tallying three goals and eight points in 24 games during the 2017-18 season. When Versteeg arrived Thursday at Vida Arena in Växjö, Sweden, he brought his gear in a Flames bag.
The Blackhawks acquired Versteeg from Boston in February 2007 for Brandon Bochenski.
