Philadelphia Flyers forward Chris VandeVelde will have a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player safety on Friday for elbowing Jonathan Toews in the head in Wednesday’s 3-2 victory over the Blackhawks.
VandeVelde elbowed Toews with 29.4 seconds remaining in the first period. He was given two minutes for the infraction. Toews returned to start the second period and played the rest of the game.
The Flyers’ next game is Saturday afternoon when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins.
