The Philadelphia Flyers honored retired defenseman Kimmo Timonen with a special ceremony before the team hosted the Chicago Blackhawks at Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night. Timonen was a longtime great for the Flyers over the years before winning a Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks following a midseason trade during the 2014-15 season.
Timonen, 40, played seven seasons with the Flyers from 2007-15 after beginning his NHL career with eight years as a member of the Nashville Predators. He was one of the game's better defensemen, finishing in the top-20 in Norris Trophy voting three times with Philadelphia, and led the Flyers to a Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2010.
