Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman declared Saturday that changes would come.
On Monday, they began to happen.
The Blackhawks relieved assistant coach Mike Kitchen of his duties after six seasons with the organization. He was named to the staff on July 12, 2010.
“We believe this decision is best for our organization moving forward,” Bowman said in a statement. “Mike had an impact on two different Stanley Cup championship teams during his tenure in Chicago. We appreciate his many contributions and wish he and his family success in the future.”
Kitchen was on the coaching staff for the Blackhawks’ 2013 and 2015 Stanley Cups.
