Earlier this month, John Lackey reminded us that pitcher wins are still valuable to some people — like him — and on Wednesday, Lackey got another W, maybe his last as a big leaguer, in St. Louis, and the Cubs won their second straight NL Central crown and earned their third straight playoff berth.
Give Lackey all the Budweiser, please. And save some for all of the Cubs fans from Lakeview to the Pacific Ocean, the fans who can no longer be called “long-suffering.
