According to the very reliable Scott Powers at The Athletic, it appears the Chicago Blackhawks are not pursuing University of Denver free agent Will Butcher.
The Blackhawks have not reached out to free agent defenseman Will Butcher and forward Alex Kerfoot as of Wednesday afternoon, according to sources. Both became free agents at 12 a.m. ET after their draft rights expired on Tuesday.
The Blackhawks not reaching out to Butcher is a bit of a surprise with their lack of depth at the blue line and the cheap contract that Butcher will be signing for his first two league years.
