My answer to this question is by no means a criticism of Corey Crawford, as I think he’s one of the top ten or even top five goalies in the NHL. However, to me Scott Darling proved this year that he can be a number one goalie in this league. Because Darling has never had a starting role in the NHL his contract will be a lot cheaper than Crow’s six million dollar cap hit. Not only that, but Crawford has a lot of trade value even with that contract a team with goalie issues would be wise to take a look at him.
